Day 14

I'm content on my mama's shoulder. Sleep is always good.
Tuesdays are Sushi Nights in Bogota; here we joined Betty and Rafa for their weekly Japanese date. Wendy came along too. Christina was able to eat vegetarian sushi. And the Miso soup along with the seaweed salad were excellent.

Another Sushi picture
My pretty dress from Rohan.

Day 11

This is the south side of Bogota, which is a very poor area. There are many stray animals and very poorly maintained homes.
This is the school just built and opened for this area to encourage and help the indigent population succeed. There is a new Mayor in Botota who is focusing on equality of the people to improve the basic lifestyle of every class.
Angel Baby.
In Candelaria, they sell corn and grain to feed the pigeons who are so accustomed to being fed, they will eat from your hand.

When you tip the statue to support the arts, the dancer starts moving very quickly. Nikhil and I were so startled, we jumped and the children behind were roaring with laughter.
On this side of Bogota there are many strays, unlike the residence. We fed this one lunch and he was very greatful. He was very gentle and obedient, the guards thought he was loose from the police force.
A local artist in the Candelaria district. He carves images of Colombia in wood of varying shapes and sizes.

Mateo, the Llama waits at the top of the hill on the way to Candelaria to greet children and tourists and earn a living for himself and his owner. Candelaria is the "Old City" of Bogota and has many important landmarks.

Beinestar Interview (Day 10)

Mira and Mama waiting to be called for our Beinestar interview. Eventually, Mira fell asleep and slept through the entire interview.
Michael, Sandra and Lucinda Sellinger also had their Beinestar interview this morning.
Today was a nice sunny day, we took Mira out to the garden at Betty's Place.
Daddy and his girl.

She is now over 12 pounds, she gained nearly 2 pounds since coming to us.

Day 9

We are practicing sitting up and although Mira is not steady yet, she is having fun trying.
Mira loves bath time, until we take her out of the water.
Mira sitting at the lunch table at a great restaurant in the mall called Crepes and Waffles. All new FANA couples should try this on your trip to Colombia. There are many locations throughout Bogota. Many police officers in Bogota have a K-9 partner. This not only allows these dogs to be looked after, but provides a great service to the city using their sniffing capabilities. We have seen most breeds being used throughout the city. In spite of the population in Bogota, there are very few stray animals. Most are being cared for by private owners or are being used as working dogs for guarding homes and businesses and of course, the K-9 task force.
The officer allowed his K-9 companion to pose for our photograph complete with police cap.

Day 8

Mommy, Mira, Daddy, Michael Sellinger and dog Nemo from NYC. Michael and his wife Sandra adopted a baby girl, Lucinda, the day before Nikhil and I did from FANA. Sandra invited us for lunch with her family who live in the Hills of Bogota. Sandra had an appointment to make with Lucinda, but we will meet later for another play date with the girls.
Mira's first car seat ride in Lucinda's car seat.
Mommy, Mira andSandra's mother in their home after lunch. We had a wonderful traditional Colombian meal, which includes rice, potatoes, yuca, and meat for the carnivores among us.
Mommy, Daddy and Mira standing in front of of one of Sandra's pieces of work in her parents home, she is an artist in NYC.

Day 7

Alicia, the nurse/baby-sitter available at Betty's Place for all families is watching the 3 children together. Angelina is in her lap, Austin and Mira are in baby chairs.
Betty's husband Rafa visits the residence and of course, baby Mira.

Th last supper with all of the families in the house. Tomorrow Carol, Austin and Angelina rejoin their family in North Carolina after 9 weeks in Colombia. Lisa and, Larry and Paoula head to Austin, Texas in the morning. Tomorrow's dinner will not be as fun.

Day 6

Mira is much more alert than when she first came home. She wakes up, smiles and stretches.

Mira enjoys being wrapped tightly, I think it makes her feel more secure.

This is Lisa, Larry and their new daughter Paoula. We have enjoyed spending time with them at Betty's Place the last few days. Lisa and Larry are from Austin Texas and met Paoula last summer in the U.S. As you can see they make a very happy family. Tonight we are celebrating their sentencia, passport and visa completion at an Italian Restaurant close to the residence. We will miss their company when they go.

Paoula, Carol and I at dinner. Carol was in her 9th week in Colombia before her sentencia. This is Carol's 3rd trip to Colombia, for her 3rd child and she has been here longer than her first 2 adoptions combined. It's all in the assigned court...Here's hoping we get a good court.

Myriam Aunty came home tonight, she makes lovely childrens clothes, she gave me this hat to match the dress she made for me. She also supports the FANA golf tournament, so we like to support her too.
One of Myriam Aunties poncho's, all hand made. Makes me look even cuter!
